Zahir - someone or something which, once we have come in contact with them or it, gradually occupies our every thought, until we can think of nothing else. This can be considered either a state of holiness or madness.

                            - Faubourg Saint - Pères
What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness,  and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

Luke 15:4 , quoted in 'The Zahir'

Sea of humans
Each so alike yet distinctly apart
One grapples for money
Other craves for power
Another yearns for love
But they all pine for days on end.
One cheats for the family
Another betrays for love
While one destroys in the name of religion,
But destruction is all they bring.
Charity one does for God
One for a better life after
Another for fame
But charity they do with a black heart cold as stone.
One lives for success
While one out of obligation
And another lives to die.
But live they do without humanity.
Sea of humans
Every emotion as temporary as a wave
Adrift and afloat
Despite the ground beneath
Not a glimpse of salvation in the stark horizon
Yet mankind evolves with each passing day
For better or for worse,
No one's to know.
